Judy Merritt, Ph.D. has been a licensed psychologist since 1993. Her clinical work has focused on developmental trauma disorder, attachment disorders, anxiety, and mood disorders in children and adults, as well as Autism and Autism Spectrum disorders. Dr. Merritt worked with Michael DeBellis, MD, Duke University, in the first research Dr. DeBellis conducted in Pittsburgh on the effect of trauma on the physical and emotional development of the child. In addition to working with children, she also provides parenting support.
Along with insight-oriented therapy from a developmental and psychoanalytic perspective, she offers to clients a mind-body-spirit methodology of artistic, personal expression which is helpful in identifying and healing the effects of trauma from childhood through adulthood. All therapy is geared toward the needs and goals of the individual and is grounded in a holistic belief in healing. Judy also offers therapeutic groups for women.
Judy is a Usui Reiki Level 3 Practitioner. She brings the practice of holistic, natural healing technique to The Neuropsychiatry Center as a complementary treatment in this holistic psychiatric practice. She is available for individual Reiki treatment sessions.
